A Doctor of Chiropractic or a Chiropractor, diagnoses and treats patients whose health problems are associated with the body's muscular, nervous, and skeletal systems, especially the spine and extremities.
Many chiropractors primarily manually manipulate/adjust the spine and extremity joints to treat the structures. They may also use other various modalities such as cupping, tape, laser, ice, massage, ultrasound, and electric stimulation to address the patient's symptoms.

Unlike medical doctors, chiropractic doctors do not prescribe medications. Chiropractors go through a four year chiropractic school to receive a Doctor of Chiropractic.

The purpose of massage is generally for the treatment of body stress or pain.Myofascial (my-o-FASH-e-ul) release is a manual therapy technique often used in massage. The technique focuses on pain believed to arise from myofascial tissues — the tough membranes that wrap, connect and support your muscles.
Theoretically, myofascial pain differs from other types of pain because it originates in "trigger points," which are related to stiff, anchored areas within the myofascial tissue. The pain that a trigger point causes is often difficult to localize, though.
During myofascial release therapy, the therapist locates myofascial areas that feel stiff and fixed instead of elastic and movable under light manual pressure. These areas, though not always near what feels like the source of pain, are thought to restrict muscle and joint movements, which contributes to widespread muscle pain.
The focused manual pressure and stretching used in myofascial release therapy loosen up restricted movement, leading indirectly to reduced pain.
Many studies have found that massage, chiropractic manipulation and similar manual therapies work as well as other treatments for back pain. Few studies, however, have tested myofascial release therapy specifically, partly because the exact elements of myofascial release therapy vary from therapist to therapist.

Acupuncture involves the insertion of very thin needles through your skin at strategic points on your body. A key component of traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture is most commonly used to treat pain. Increasingly, it is being used for overall wellness, including stress management.
Traditional Chinese medicine explains acupuncture as a technique for balancing the flow of energy or life force — known as chi or qi (chee) — believed to flow through pathways (meridians) in your body. By inserting needles into specific points along these meridians, acupuncture practitioners believe that your energy flow will re-balance.
In contrast, many Western practitioners view the acupuncture points as places to stimulate nerves, muscles and connective tissue. Some believe that this stimulation boosts your body's natural painkillers.

Leslie has always had a fascination with how the human body moves. She started training in dance at a young age and continued throughout her formative years. She still integrates some form of movement in her daily life (yoga, stretching, walking/ hiking, sneaking in a dance class). She holds a bachelor’s degree in movement education and completed graduate coursework in exercise physiology, both of which have given her a strong foundation for her massage therapy practice.

She views herself as a facilitator— educating clients about their own bodies and give them tools to incorporate body awareness into their activities of daily living. Human bodies and routines are all unique, which allows her to tailor her sessions to each client’s individual needs with intuitiveness, compassion and empathy to facilitate relaxation, rehabilitation and injury prevention.

Leslie’s integrative massage style is rooted in deep tissue techniques that include modalities of neuromuscular, myofascial and trigger point therapies. As a board certified massage therapist and body worker, she continually seeks out new modalities and techniques based on research that compliments her style and further helps her clients.

Her other passions include being with her family, cooking, baking, dancing and the outdoors. Her self-reminders include, “breathe, keep it simple, be kind to yourself and laugh”.

We are so fortunate at Lee Chiropractic to have her be part of our team and to be able to call her family.

Dr. Yvonne Hua is a proud Bay Area native from San Jose, California born to her Vietnamese-Chinese parents and she speaks fluent Vietnamese. In 2017, she graduated from San Jose State University with a bachelor’s degree in child and adolescent development, concentration in early childhood education. However, in her heart, she had always dreamt of becoming a doctor and treating people of all ages. After graduating from SJSU, she was determined to pursue her dream.

In 2018, she began working at Thrive Milpitas Chiropractic in administration and later became their chiropractic assistant. During that time, she quickly became fascinated with this complementary and holistic approach to healthcare. So, in January 2019, Dr. Hua began her chiropractic career at Palmer College of Chiropractic, West Campus.

While in school, she was the class representative for her first five quarters. And in her 12th and 13th quarter, she accepted an invitation to work in an internship with the Veterans Affairs of Palo Alto Healthcare System, where she had the honor to provide chiropractic care for our respectable veterans. In March 2022, she completed her educational journey receiving her Doctor of Chiropractic degree with Honors.

In practice, Dr. Hua treats her patients using the Diversified Full Spine Adjusting Technique. She also utilizes muscle work as a foundation for her treating style, including IASTM (instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization) and cupping. She is currently certified in Rocktape, FAKTR (Functional and Kinetic Treatment with Rehab), and is working on her certifications in CSCS (Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist), Webster Technique, and ART (Active Release Technique). Dr. Christine Lee is a first generation Taiwanese-American, who was born in Washington, DC and raised in northern Virginia. She received a bachelor’s degree in Biology from East Carolina University in North Carolina.

After graduating from ECU, she decided to try something new and moved to California in 1997. She had the opportunity to work both as a part-time Juvenile probation counselor for Santa Clara County and at the same time as an office manager in a busy chiropractic office. It’s in that office where she experienced first-hand how chiropractic care changes lives. When it came time to decide between a full time career in probation or healing, the decision was clear, becoming a Doctor of Chiropractic was her true path.

In 2000 she began her own chiropractic journey at Life Chiropractic College West. During school she was active in both the Pediatric Club and Gonstead Society. At one point she was asked to be a clinic case presenter for the school, an experience that still makes her shake with nerves today. She’s been on two separate chiropractic mission trips to El Salvador First as a student, and later as a lead doctor. During those trip she treated over 300 patients and quickly learned the strength of the human spirit.

After graduating in 2003, Dr. Lee opened Lee Chiropractic in Hayward, California. She also worked as the team trainer for the San Francisco Golden Gate Men’s Rugby team and has volunteered her services at the Bay Area Battered Women’s shelter, which was organized by the LCCW students.

In 2005, she moved her practice to Oakland, CA where she continues to practice the art of Chiropractic care. To further aid people on their journey to wellness and health, Dr. Lee has continued her education. She has a passion for working with athletes and holds certification as a chiropractic extremity practitioner (CCEP) as well as a chiropractic sports practitioner (CCSP), and is also certified in the Webster In-utero Constraint Technique for expectant mothers, which she sees simply as a different form of athleticism. She is always learning in order to better serve her patients in new and exciting ways.

At home, Dr. Lee lives in the Oakland Redwood Heights/Laurel District. She enjoys life with her husband and son. She loves cooking, camping, dirt biking and Brazilian jiujitsu. She constantly reminds herself, “anything worth doing or changing should make you a little nervous.”
